Barcelona will be looking for some positivity ahead of their weekend La Liga trip to Real Sociedad.
La Blaugrana suffered their first league loss of the season last weekend as Real Madrid fought back to secure a 2-1 El Clasico win in Catalonia.
Xavi’s plans for the game were heavily impacted by ongoing injury issues with several players not passed fit in time to feature against Los Blancos.
Two players not involved in El Clasico, but hoping to be fit to travel to San Sebastian, are midfield duo Pedri and Frenkie de Jong.
De Jong has been absent for five weeks with an ankle problem with Pedri sidelined since August with a hamstring issue.
However, despite optimism that both players would be ready to face La Real, de Jong looks to be still some way from a return, with Barcelona not willing to take any risks over injury comebacks this season.
As per the latest update from Marca, Pedri is likely to come into the squad, but de Jong’s status will not be confirmed until the last minute.

I just hold Barça to a higher standard than you new fans do. I used to watch Xavi and Iniesta, safe Busquets, even Arthur Melo was safer than this guy, couldn't win his ball without fouling him. He'd go clear of three opponents and come out with the ball.

One thing for sure with Frenkie, every match he is sure to give the opponents at least one good goal-scoring opportunity. I cut him some slack, because he is just coming back from injury. So I won't count the other 5 times he gave the ball away idly. You would never see Arthur Melo doing this crap. You have to foul him to get his ball. Maybe once in his whole Barça career you win his ball easily. De Jong sleeps and a €120M offer should never had been turned down.

You guys have missed much. Barça with Frenkie for the many seasons he's been here, is a different Barça with Pedri. Don't just argue, go and check. You all seem to have forgotten how long Frenkie has been here doing nothing. One and a half good seasons, or average...even he himself will tell you he hadn't played well for the better part of his first 3 seasons at the club.

Pedri has been here and had a greater impact in fewer seasons, we've actually won stuff. This Firmin argument is obviously an opinion and this based on a player you could only have seen playing 5 first team games. The comparison is way too young and dare I say, not even close.
