Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric took to Twitter to express his opposition to the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, a few days after Vladimir Putin launched attacks against the neighbouring country.
It should be noted that the Croatia international's grandfather lost his life in the war that took place in the Balkans in the early 1990s while Modric was still young.
"I grew up during war and I don't wish it on anyone," wrote Modric.
"We must stop this nonsense where innocent people die.
"We want to live in peace. #StopWar."

Its good that footballers are speaking for the Humanity, but when there are fights against innocent muslims worldwide then No one speaks, and the whole world are silent crowds.

A lot of hypocrites.. We didn't see any sanctions against Israel. Even yesterday they were bombing innocent people in Palestine.
