Girona have signed Monchu on a season-long loan from Barcelona with an obligatory purchase clause activated if the Catalan club gain promotion to LaLiga Santander.
The 21-year-old made his first-team debut for the Blaugrana last season and there were high hopes for the promising midfielder.
However, the club decided in the summer that he was surplus to requirements and have loaned him out to their Catalan neighbours with a view to a permanent deal.
In the last two seasons, Monchu played 60 games for Barcelona B.
His performances were noticed by Quique Setien who gave him his first team debut against Napoli in the Champions League.
