Granada kicked off 2020 with a 1-0 home win over Real Mallorca, thanks to a goal from Montoro.
The hosts controlled the early parts of the game and it looked like a matter of time before they would take the lead.
On 23 minutes, that moment arrived as Roberto Soldado put in a perfect cross for Montoro who made no mistake with the finish.
That joy quickly turned to sadness for the midfielder, however, as he was forced off the pitch through injury just before the break.
From that point on, it was Mallorca who looked the more threatening of the two sides.
However, Granada stood firm for three points which sees them move up to eighth place in LaLiga Santander, while Mallorca hover above the relegation zone in 17th.
