Morata becomes Spain's most expensive player: A total of €181m in transfers

Atletico Madrid have agreed a deal with Chelsea to take Alvaro Morata on loan for the 2019/20 campaign before completing a 65-million-euro switch next summer.

The transfer would make Morata the most expensive Spaniard of all-time when all career deals are taken into account.

Juventus paid Real Madrid 20 million euros to sign him in 2014, before Los Blancos bought him back two years later for 30 million euros.

Chelsea parted ways with 66 million euros to prise him away from Real Madrid in 2017 but, with things not going according to play, Atletico have moved in to take him for 65 million euros, taking his total cost of transfers to 181 million euros.

Fernando Torres comes second in this ranking, with 94 million euros generated in total - 36 million euros from Atletico Madrid to Liverpool and 58 million euros from the Reds to Chelsea.

In third place is Diego Costa, who has cost 93 million euros in his transfers from Chelsea to Atletico Madrid (38 million euros in 2014) and, four years later, back to Los Rojiblancos (55 million euros).
