Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers has revealed that his childhood idol was former Manchester United player Ronaldo.
Morgan Rogers, who has become one of Aston Villa's key players under Unai Emery since last season, has been linked with Manchester United.
The England international, who made his career breakthrough under Michael Carrick at Middlesbrough, would reunite with the Manchester United coach if he moved to Old Trafford.
Manchester United has recently been linked with several left-backs and left-wingers, and Rogers' versatility in attack makes him a potential candidate for the team's left-wing position.
Having been selected in Tuchel's 26-man England squad, Rogers will make his first World Cup appearance this summer.
Rogers has performed exceptionally well for Villa this season, helping the team secure fourth place in the Premier League ahead of Liverpool and win the Europa League. He is now considered likely to leave the Midlands club. If he can perform brilliantly at the 2026 World Cup, the 23-year-old will undoubtedly attract more attention.
In a quick-fire interview with Dazed, Rogers revealed that he idolized Ronaldo as a child. It seems that a move to Manchester United would certainly excite the Villa star.
"Ronaldo," Rogers said.
"For me, he's the greatest of all time. I think he was just different in every aspect to what we've seen before.
"That uniqueness about him just captivated me."
A move to Manchester United could allow Rogers to follow in his idol's footsteps.
Both Rogers and Ronaldo will represent their respective national teams in the 2026 World Cup, and it remains to be seen if they will meet on the field. Numerous transfer rumors are bound to emerge during the World Cup, but most deals will only truly progress after the tournament concludes.
In addition to Manchester United, Rogers has also been linked with other clubs, with Premier League champions Arsenal also in the running.
Villa, having secured Champions League qualification for next season, is naturally reluctant to let Rogers go, but numerous reports indicate that the player himself is open to a transfer this summer.

Because he loved Ronaldo doesn’t mean he wants to go to Utd. Crazy assumption.
