Bernardo Silva, 31, admitted after Portugal's 2-1 friendly victory over Chile that Barcelona "is an option," but he added that he had "not yet made a decision" about his next destination. Mundo Deportivo reported earlier this week that if Bernardo wants to wear a Barcelona shirt, he already knows he has to wait for Barcelona; his agent, Jorge Mendes, also stated that they would not decide on their next step until after the World Cup.

This waiting period may help Barcelona make room for Bernardo in next season's squad, but it also opens the door for other clubs to sign the technically gifted player for free. Atlético Madrid has previously been linked with the Portuguese player, and now, according to AS, if Florentino Pérez is re-elected president and Mourinho begins his next project at Real Madrid, he has requested to sign his Portuguese compatriot.

The aforementioned sources claim that Bernardo was initially recommended to Real Madrid, but Real Madrid did not consider signing him until Mourinho allegedly expressed a desire to sign the former Manchester City player.
