Nacho could make his first appearance of the season against Osasuna

Real Madrid's injury problems, particularly at left-back, could see Nacho Fernandez called into action for his first appearance of the season against Osasuna on Wednesday.

Marcelo had already been ruled out of the midweek fixture Ferland Mendy suffered a muscular injury that also makes him unavailable.

That leaves Zinedine Zidane needing to improvise in order to fill the left-back role and the versatile Nacho could be the best solution having played across Madrid's backline at various points of his career.

He has yet to play a single minute so far despite being on the bench in the opening five LaLiga Santander matches, as Eder Militao has been the French coach's preferred option when rotating the defence.

Nacho had the chance to leave Madrid in the summer but instead remained loyal to his boyhood club and extended his deal until 2022.

The defender had a poor pre-season however, much like most of his colleagues, particularly in the disastrous 7-3 friendly defeat to Atletico Madrid, although Nacho did score Los Blancos' first goal in that game.

Incidentally, Nacho may be needed again against Atletico on Saturday, should Marcelo not recover in time.
