At 20:30 PM UTC on June 30, Germany will face Paraguay in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16.
According to statistics, Germany coach Nagelsmann, at 38 years and 341 days old, will become the youngest coach to manage a FIFA World Cup knockout stage match in the past 40 years. The previous record holder was Henri Michel, coach of the French team at the 1986 FIFA World Cup, who was 38 years and 243 days old when he led his team in the third-place playoff match—before Nagelsmann was even born.
This FIFA World Cup is the second major international tournament Nagelsmann has managed with the German national team. The previous one was the 2024 European Championship, where hosts Germany was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
