Lisandro Martinez didn't hold back in his explosive post-match interview following Man United's 2-0 defeat vs Atletico Madrid
New footage appears to show Man United's Lisandro Martinez being wound up by his Argentina teammates just minutes before his outburst against the club's hierarchy. The defender criticised the summer transfer window following the 2-0 Champions League defeat against Atletico Madrid.
Pablo Barrios opened the scoring for the Spanish side inside the first minute, in the worst possible start for Michael Carrick's team. Leny Yoro was then shown a straight red card in the second half before Ademola Lookman doubled Atletico's lead in the 79th minute.
Following the defeat, Martinez couldn't help but show his frustration. He picked out technical director Jason Wilcox for criticism, highlighting the need for more transfers in the summer window.

"I expected more from our technical director," he said. "I have to be honest, you know? And also, as players, we have to do more, but it's also important when you make a strong squad to be ready for these kinds of nights."
When pressed on which positions he believed required reinforcement, he added: "In general. I think last season we did everything; we created a base to build an amazing team. But this is something to be honest and to prove something, you know?
"Yeah, it's annoying, disappointing, to come here and not see my team trying to get an amazing result here. It's disappointing."
Prior to the interview, footage from the pitch at the final whistle shows Martinez looking visibly frustrated during an exchange with international colleagues Cristian Romero and Julian Alvarez. The beginning of the clip circulating on social media appears to capture Martinez seemingly confronting Alvarez in anger.
Romero then seems to intervene as peacemaker. A brief tense exchange unfolds between the pair, before a swift handshake as they go their separate ways, with Romero grinning as he departs.
Supporters on social media determined that the incident was the 'catalyst' for the media tirade. Romero himself has been no stranger to publicly challenging a club's leadership.
Back in January, during his spell at Tottenham, he lashed out on social media about individuals 'only showing up when things are going well'. Having shared the summer with the former Spurs defender at the World Cup while representing Argentina, Martinez may well have drawn inspiration to voice his opinions from his international colleague.
United's response as a club to the remarks remains unclear, with Carrick's team returning to action on Sunday afternoon when they face Leeds United away in the Premier League (2pm kick-off).
Offering his instant reaction on Tuesday evening, The United boss said: "I haven't seen the interview; I've heard about it as the interview was done, but I think it's a little bit on the emotions of the game as well.
"Coming here and being disappointed not to get something from the game. Straight after a game for me isn't the time to talk about that interview because I haven't seen it, so I can't really comment on that.
"But I think it's important for us to move forward quickly, really. There is a big game on Sunday, and it's really important that we move forward and we stay focused on that. There's disappointment within the group. I'm very disappointed in certain things, and the boys are as well."
