Neymar shows support for 11-year-old boy who suffered racist abuse

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has shown his support this Friday for a 11-year-old Brazilian boy who was the victim of racism during a football tournament.

The Brazilian star released a video in support of the young boy which has gone viral.

"I saw that you went through something really horrible and sad," said Neymar.

"Sadly, we have to go through these things which shouldn't be happening these days.

"I send you strength, light and lots of love".

The story of Luiz Eduardo, who plays for Uberland Academy, has been all over the internet and the Brazilian press since Wednesday, after a match against Instituto SET in Caldas Novas.

At the end of the match, Luiz left the pitch in tears which grabbed the attention of a few parents who approached him to see what had happened. In floods of tears, he told them that the opposition coach Lasaro Caiana had made racist comments towards him during the match.

Tournament organisers have provisionally suspended Caiana who denied all allegations on Friday.

Neymar himself claimed to have received similar abuse from Marseille defender Alvaro Gonzalez.

"Turn this in to strength, training and dedication; in to love for what you do, for your parents, family, everyone, regardless of race or colour," Neymar told him.

"All the best. I'm with you. A big hug."

Neymar and PSG were caught up in another racism scandal earlier this month in the Champions League clash again Istanbul Basaksehir after the fourth official made racist comments to Pierre Webo. The match was suspended and played the following day with a different fourth official.
