'Nobody at Atletico called me', says Bruno Guimaraes ahead of Lyon move

Bruno Guimaraes is on the verge of joining Lyon after the French club reached an agreement with Athletico Paranaense.

The midfielder had been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, but he says no contact was made between himself and Los Rojiblancos.

"Nobody called me from Atletico," Guimaraes said.

Now set to join Lyon, the 22-year-old said the presence of his compatriot Juninho Pernambucano contributed to his decision.

"Juninho was key to my decision," Guimaraes explained.

"He was the difference. He told me I'd be the best midfielder in the world if I signed for Lyon.

"He's been very honest with me; 90 percent of my decision to go to Ligue 1 is because of this."
