Rayo Vallecano officially announced on June 18th that Beñat San José has been appointed as the club's new first-team head coach.

Beñat San José is officially Rayo Vallecano's new coach.
Beñat San José Gil, born September 24, 1979, in San Sebastián, began his coaching career in Real Sociedad's youth academy. After four years, he moved to Saudi Arabia as Al-Ittihad's U21 coach before being promoted to first-team manager, leading the side to win the 2013 King's Cup.
In the 2014-15 season, he joined Ettifaq FC. He then coached Deportes Antofagasta in Chile during the 2015-16 season, guiding the team to its best league finish in club history. The following year he moved to Bolivia to manage Club Bolívar, leading them to win both the Apertura and Clausura tournaments in 2017. After returning to Chile, he won the 2018 Chilean Primera División title with Universidad Católica. He subsequently managed Al Wasl in the UAE before joining KAS Eupen in Belgium in 2019, where he led the team to the Belgian Cup semi-finals and a new club league record in the 2020-21 season.
He then managed Mazatlán in Mexico, had a second spell at Bolívar in 2022, and coached Atlas FC after returning to Mexico. In 2023, he led Bolívar to the Bolivian Primera División title and the Copa Libertadores quarter-finals.
San José took charge of Eibar in February 2025 and managed the team in 60 official matches before his move to Rayo Vallecano.
