OFFICIAL: Casemiro signs extension with Real Madrid until 2025

Casemiro have agreed to extend the player's contract at the club for the next four seasons, until 30 June 2025.

The Brazilian, whose contract was set to expire in 2023, follows in the footsteps of Luka Modric, Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez, who penned new contracts before the end of last season, and Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois and Fede Valverde, who have done the same this summer.

It hasn't always been plain sailing for Casemiro at Real Madrid since he signed in 2013. There were originally some doubts around him and he was sent out to Porto on loan for the 2014/15 campaign, but he cemented his place in the side the following season under Julen Lopetegui.

His defensive work helps protect both Modric and Toni Kroos, and his time at the club has been laden with silverware.

Casemiro has lifted 14 trophies

Casemiro has played 288 games for Real Madrid and scored 30 times, while he has won 14 trophies in total, including four Champions Leagues.

The role he plays in the centre of the pitch cannot be understated and he's been one of the first names on the team sheet for a number of seasons now.

At the age of 29, this new contract will ensure that Casemiro will be playing out the best years of his career in the Spanish capital.
