Leganes have completed the signing of Argentine midfielder Fede Varela on a permanent deal from Porto, running until 2021.
Marca reports the 22-year-old, who was on loan at Rayo Majadahonda last season and recorded three goals and five assists in 37 appearances, passed a medical on Thursday morning.
Los Pepineros confirmed the transfer but did not reveal a fee for the former Celta Vigo youth team player, who also holds a Spanish passport.
Alvarez also spent time on loan at Portuguese second tier side Portimonense, and in 2017-18 scored 16 goals in 70 games for Porto’s youth team.
Leganes have also completed the loan signing of Real Betis forward Aitor Rubial, who moves to Madrid on a 12-month deal after extending his contract at his parent club until 2022.
They do however have a purchase option for Rubial at the end of the loan deal, Marca note, while Betis have a repurchase option as well.
