OFFICIAL: Thierry Henry has terminated his contract as France U21 manager

Thierry Henry, coach of the French U21 team, has decided to terminate his contract, which ran until June 2025, for personal reasons.

Henry was appointed one year ago and has led both the France U21 team, as well as the U23 team in the Olympics. Earlier this month, he led France to the final of the Olympics, ultimately losing 5-3 to Spain in extra-time. The former AS Monaco and Montreal Impact manager replaced Sylvain Ripoll in the post following an underwhelming Euro U21 campaign last summer.

At the end of an exceptional campaign at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, punctuated by a silver medal, Thierry Henry spoke with Philippe Diallo, the president of the FFF, to inform him of his decision.

"I would like to thank the FFF and President Philippe Diallo," said Thierry Henry, "who offered me this incredible opportunity. Winning the silver medal at the Olympic Games for my country will remain one of the proudest moments of my life. I am incredibly grateful to the Federation, the players, the staff and the supporters who allowed me to live a magical experience."

In the next few days, Philippe Diallo will launch the process of appointing the new coach of the French Espoirs team, who will take up his duties during the next two matches counting towards the Euro 2025 qualifiers, scheduled for early September.
