OPTA：Barca has 79% rate of winning this year's La Liga title

According to this 'supercomputer', just halfway through the championship on the weekend that the second round begins, FC Barcelona, the reigning champions, count as favourites to win their 29th league title with a 78.59% probability. The ease of the figure is much higher than the distance with which Barça coached by Hansi Flick now leads the standings, with 4 points over their closest pursuer, Real Madrid, who are granted a 19.55% chance of finishing LaLiga as champions.

The white team, which was the leader in 9 rounds of the first round, is for OPTA's prediction practically the only alternative to a Barça team, since apart from the two great dominators of the list of winners, it offers Atlético (1.02%) and Villarreal (0.84%) symbolic odds. In relation to the qualification for the next edition of the Champions League, OPTA understands that Barça has a 100% probability and Real Madrid 99.91%, with Atlético (95.63%) and Villarreal (92.65%) practically assured of a place. Betis (5.07%) and Espanyol (4.45%) are the clubs with some option to get into that quota for the major European competition.

The evolution of the prediction offers curious readings. Barça already started La Liga as the main candidate to win it with a 46.6% probability, with Real Madrid, who had invested almost 170 million euros in signings in the summer of 2025, boasting a 32.1% chance of regaining the title.

However, at the end of October, just after Real Madrid won the Clasico against Barcelona in the first round (2-1), the 'supercomputer' gave the Merengue team, then coached by Xabi Alonso, the favourites, with a 68.91% chance of winning. Therefore, two and a half months ago, Real Madrid were clear favourites to win La Liga. In these subsequent weeks they have lost practically 50% of the chances they had a few weeks before Christmas.
