Even at the age of just 20, Martin Odegaard is a veteran and has accumulated 15 goals and 17 assists in the 97 games he has played at senior level with Stromsgodset, Real Madrid, Heerenveen and Vitesse.
On top of that you can also add 14 international caps with Norway, earned since he became the youngest player to debut with his country at 15 years and 253 days old in 2014.
It has been a particular highlight to see the leap in quality he has made during his time on loan from Real Madrid with Vitesse.
He has scored seven goals, his highest scoring campaign, and also has six assists, which is already more than the three goals and five assists he managed in 18 months at Heerenveen.
So well is he playing that there is speculation about his impact on his return to Real Madrid.
"I don't know which club would be good for him, but he's ready to take the leap to another level," his current coach Leonid Slutsky told DAZN.
"He's playing very well, much more directly, and could have a place at Real Madrid, although maybe not in their starting XI," said Norway boss Lars Lagerback.
"The return of Zinedine Zidane is a positive, as he knows him well and they have a good relationship."
Even Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is more enthusiastic about the youngster now.
"He has had a good development and we are hoping he can play in our first team one day," he said a few months ago.
Several Spaniards have already suffered at the hands of Odegaard in the Eredivisie.
Last week, though, Adrian Dalmau got the better of him by scoring twice in a 3-2 win for Heracles over Odegaard's Vitesse.
"He has taken the reins and put the team on his back and always wants the ball," Dalmau noted.
"He's growing a lot.
"He starts on the right, but when he moves inside he generates a lot of danger because he is so good one on one and has a lot of quality in his left foot."
Pol Llonch of Willem II is also very enthusiastic about the leaps that he has made in his game in Holland.
"He has taken a step forward to the point of being one of the more outstanding players in the league," Llonch stated.
"Now, he looks more mature and is making a difference, which is what was expected of him, and is playing with total freedom."
However, when it comes to excitement about a return to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Llonch was a little more reserved.
"There are many high-level players in his position so it is difficult to win a place in that team," he said.
"But he's young and can still grow much more.
"It's difficult to know if he would have a place."

His performance proved that he has something special.😍 Odegaard is a young midfielder and is constantly improving.📈 He's an intelligent player and there is no doubt that he has a bright future ahead of him.🌟 At only 20 years of age, he has the talent needed to become a star.✨

why dont they try him. Just give him chance for 6 months till jan 2020 transfer window. who knows he might just florish. Dont be like chelsea of la liga. Try him give him free role like of isco and let him prove himself. God sometimes it feels the club is run by a 5 year old named F. perez. Grow up perez.
