Olmo's agent Bara says client will stay at Barca despite registration issue

Dani Olmo's agent, Andy Bara, has confirmed that the Spain international will remain at Barcelona despite a second appeal for his registration being rejected. 

Olmo joined Barca from RB Leipzig for a reported £50million fee, but with the club unable to meet LaLiga's wage cap, was only registered for the first half of the season.

After their initial attempt to register the Spaniard was knocked back, the Court of First Instance 47 of Barcelona also denied the club approval for the registration of Olmo. 

The latest developments mean Barcelona could lose Olmo on a free transfer in January, with the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United reportedly interested.

Olmo reportedly included a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave Camp Nou on a free if the club were unable to register him due to financial restraints.

Barcelona are trying their best to sell VIP seats for their new stadium in order to accumulate money and get approval for Olmo’s registration. 

It would reportedly generate around £82.9million, allowing them to extend the registration of Olmo and his team-mate Pau Victor, who is in a similar situation. 

With uncertainty circulating around his client's future, Olmo's agent Bara revealed that, whatever the outcome of the situation, that the Spaniard will remain at the Camp Nou. 

"The decision made by Dani is to stay at Barcelona as he wants to play for Barca. We are not considering any other option. Dani wants to play for Barcelona," Bara said. 

Barcelona also confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that the club had applied for a new licence to register both Olmo and Victor. 

"FC Barcelona informs that it has applied for a new licence for the players Daniel Olmo and Pau Victor to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF)," they said. 

"The club would like to deny having requested or receiving any moratorium from any governing body for these inscriptions."
