The Real Madrid players left the Metropolitano stadium on the 12th for two reasons . The first was visible to everyone. Rüdiger's penalty conversion and his subsequent iconic celebration allowed the team to continue dreaming of a sixteenth European Cup. The second was due to Florentino Pérez, who decided to reward his players with a €250,000 bonus each for qualifying for the quarterfinals .

It's unusual for the Real Madrid president, who usually pays bonuses only if the club ultimately wins the title. However, this time, several factors have influenced Florentino Perez to stretch his budget early. Firstly, the president is aware of the team's efforts this season, aiming to play 72 competitive matches if they end up reaching the finals of the Copa del Rey, Champions League, and Club World Cup. Without going any further, Real Madrid won the Champions League last season, playing 13 matches, and they have already played 12 this season. To win the title in Munich on May 31, the players would need to play 17 matches.

The second reason is that, with the new format, UEFA has increased the prize money allocated to participating teams by 21% . Real Madrid pocketed €12.5 million for qualifying for the quarterfinals and now has over €60 million. If they win, they could earn over €100 million.

What remains to be determined is whether that 250,000 euro amount would be deducted from the bonus set for winning the Champions League or if it is an added bonus. However, the competition, if won, for which the players would receive the largest bonus this season would be the Club World Cup, which will be held at the end of the season.
