Man United vs Southampton
Manchester United and Southampton would face off at St Mary’s on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils went into the game looking to continue their fine start to the season after smashing Leeds United last time out.
However, things did not get off to a great start for United on the south coast. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side looked fairly disjointed in the opening 45, with Fred, in particular, having a poor game.
And it would be Fred who helped Southampton open the scoring, deflecting Che Adams’ effort past David de Gea:
The second 45, however, was much better from a Man United perspective.
United dominated proceedings with Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes looking especially threatening.
The away side’s dominance in the second half was rewarded after 55 minutes, when Paul Pogba poked the ball into the path of Mason Greenwood who drew the score level:
Paul Pogba sets Premier League record
On the back of Greenwood’s strike, it has been revealed that Paul Pogba has now set a Premier League record.
As per Opta, Pogba – who assisted four for Man United vs Leeds last week – is the first player in Premier League history to register five assists after his team’s first two games of a single season:
