The full-back left Anfield for Real Madrid last summer when Liverpool were facing issues at right-back. Liverpool have been told they should try to bring Alexander-Arnold back to the club to solve their long-standing right-back problem. The academy product made a controversial move to Real Madrid a little over a year ago.
Although his contract had expired when he left Anfield last summer, Liverpool still received a transfer fee of around £10 million, with Real Madrid completing the deal before the Club World Cup last summer. However, Alexander-Arnold struggled in his first season at the Bernabeu, with injuries also affecting his performance.
The 27-year-old had the chance to secure his place at Real Madrid this summer, as new coach Jose Mourinho has taken over. He started in Saturday's pre-season friendly against Fiorentina, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are now missing what this academy product provided: he can consistently play at right-back and bring quality on the ball, whether it's advancing passes from the back or delivering crosses from the wing.
These problems continued this summer. Liverpool have yet to sign another right-sided defender for new coach Andoni Iraola, and the injured Conor Bradley and the unpredictable Frimpong leave him with very limited options.
Given the current situation of both parties, TalkSPORT pundit Angela Kelly suggested that Liverpool should consider bringing Alexander-Arnold back. She said: "I know how it feels for a player to 'betray' a club in your opinion, especially betraying your own people, especially when you are a Scouser. I understand.
"It's really hard to say no when Real Madrid come calling, and we have to be honest about that – and he did make the move, but it hasn't really been successful.
"And then you look at Liverpool and you think, do they need a new right-back? I mean, Frimpong didn't look great last season – I think he might be better suited to playing further forward – and Bradley is injured again.
"I think maybe they should cut their losses and just seriously look at Alexander-Arnold's situation. I'm not saying you have to sign him back now – just look into it. Because Real Madrid have signed another right-back, Dumfries, which is not good news for Alexander-Arnold.
"So, why can't everyone take a bit of responsibility... be a bit more accountable, and then come back together, and everyone will be happy?"

If he is for free, why not? Otherwise, forget about paying a fee for him.
