Quarter-final draw brings back Copa del Rey memories

Friday's Copa del Rey quarter-final draw threw up a number of ties which are set to excite supporters and neutrals alike, with a number of strong memories from the competition also being brought to the forefront of people's minds.

Barcelona faced a nervous wait to see whether they would be permitted to be in the draw on Friday as a result of the Chumi eligibility case, yet they were deemed to have broken no rules by the competition's lone judge.

Whilst Levante have made clear they will appeal to the RFEF Appeals Committee, the Blaugrana have drawn Sevilla in the quarter-final, with the first leg set to be played between January 22 and 24.

Never before have Los Blancos met Girona in the Copa del Rey, yet following the Catalan side's elimination of Atletico Madrid in the previous round, Eusebio Sacristan will look to continue their giant-killing route to the final.

Getafe-Valencia conjures memories of the Koeman final:

This tie has been played on three previous occasions, including a final that was won by Valencia under the tutelage of Ronald Koeman in 2008.

It was a triumph that just about salvaged Los Che's season, although the Dutchman was still dismissed.

It was a further disappointment for Getafe, who had been beaten in the final a year earlier by Sevilla.

Sevilla-Barcelona hands Munir a chance for revenge:

A repeat of the 2018 final beckons with Ernesto Valverde still searching for a way to get his team to replicate their performance against Sevilla in Madrid back in April.
