RFEF set to announce Luis Enrique departure as Spain coach (AS)

The Spanish football federation have called a press conference at 16:00 at Las Rozas with the president set to announce the future of Luis Enrique.

The president of the Spanish football federation, Luis Rubials, will hold a press conference at 16:00 CEST alongside sporting directo José Francisco Molina to announce that Luis Enrique will no longer be the manager of the national team.

The role will be given to his assistant manager, Robert Moreno, who has worked with Luis Enrique in all of his previous roles from Celta Vigo to Roma and Barcelona.

He has managed the side for the last three games against Malta, Faroe Islands and Sweden and they have won all three.

Luis Enrique has been absent in the last three games as he attends to a pesonal matter. The matter of Luis Enrique's future was set to be decided upon after the string of games in the Euro 2020 qualfiers and that decision has been made.

Abelardo, most recently of Alavés, was a strong candidate for the job but the heavyweights in the Spanish dressing room have been impressed with Moreno's work and urged the RFEF to choose him as the next manager.
