Radamel Falcao has terminated his contract with Galatasaray to seal a shock move to LaLiga new boys Rayo Vallecano.

The former Manchester United and Chelsea striker joined the Turkish club in 2019 but negotiated his departure to join the newly promoted Rayo Vallecano.

The 35-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Spanish side after Galatasaray announced his contract had been mutually terminated on Tuesday night.

The veteran will link up with his new team-mates following this weekend's international break.

The forward was said to be disappointed the club missed out on qualification for the Champions League last season.

He is said to have made his return to LaLiga in the hope of heading to Qatar with the Colombian squad for the 2022 World Cup.

According to Get Italian Football News, Falcao also had interest from Serie A sides Genoa and Venezia but both clubs have seen negotiations breakdown.

The striker spent the best years of his career with Monaco, Atletico Madrid and Porto.

The Colombia international scored 72 goals in 87 games for Porto and 83 goals in 140 appearances for Monaco. He then managed 70 in 91 matches for Atletico before joining the Red Devils.

His time at Old Trafford was less successful, with just four goals in 29 games before an equally disappointing loan with Chelsea - which yielded one goal in one goal in 12 games.

Falcao enjoyed a better spell in Turkey. Across the last two campaigns, he has scored 20 goals in 43 matches.
