Radio host blasts Florentino Perez's "pathetic" press conference

On Tuesday, Real Madrid club president Florentino held a press conference, pointing the finger directly at the media. In response, renowned COPE radio host Manolo Lama described the press conference as "pathetic."

Manolo Lama strongly criticized Real Madrid president Florentino's speech and said his performance was "very bad for Real Madrid."

"In my life, I have never seen such a pathetic press conference as today," the media person commented.

"All the good things Florentino has done in the past have now been destroyed by himself."

In Lama's view, the president "has completely lost his way" and cannot even "utter a coherent sentence," comparing the entire press conference to a comedy show.

"I didn't laugh this hard even when I went to the theater to see Comandante Lara's show," he said, adding that the image presented by the press conference was harming the club: "If people all over the world see this, they simply won't understand this press conference."

Florentino Pérez's appearance at the press conference came after a board meeting and was also to announce the upcoming club presidential election, for which he has confirmed his candidacy. The president began his speech with a tough stance, trying to quell rumors of his possible departure: "I regret to tell you that I will not resign."

Florentino defended his management style and the club's value, stating: "Real Madrid is the most powerful and valuable brand in the world."

In addition, he explained why he personally faced the media, saying it was a response to outside criticism. "I have to stand up and stop all this, I cannot accept that someone in the media has taken control of all this," he said, adding: "Whoever wants to run, come and run."

One of the core topics of the press conference was the "Negreira case." Florentino Pérez said it was "the biggest corruption case in football history" and promised that the club would "get to the bottom of it."

"We cannot imagine that Barcelona would pay money to the head of the refereeing committee," he said, announcing that the club would submit a report to UEFA.

On this issue, the president made extremely harsh criticisms of the refereeing system.

"I have won seven league titles, but I could have won 14, because other titles were stolen," he said.

According to him, "it's still the same referees," accusing the team of "being robbed of 18 points this season."

Florentino Pérez also spoke about internal disputes within the club, such as the conflict between Valverde and Tchouaméni, and tried to downplay the impact of the incident, saying:

"It's not the first time that players have fought."

However, he seemed very angry about the leak of information: "I think this is very bad, and what's even worse is that someone actually exposed this."

Finally, he sent a message to the media, accusing some media outlets of trying to create unrest.

"Some journalists are taking Real Madrid away from its members," he said.

During the question-and-answer session, he also directly addressed COPE journalist Melchor Ruiz: "Please tell Juanma Castaño to take care of Real Madrid."
