FC Barcelona's Croatian midfielder, Ivan Rakitic, hit 50 Champions League matches for the Blaugrana.

That record was hit in the match against Manchester United earlier this week and sees his record in Europe's top competition stand as 34 victories, 9 draws and only 7 defeats. Even more impressive is he's started 45 of those 50 matches.

Barça's no.4 is a key figure in Ernesto Valverde's team, just as he was under previous coach Luis Enrique, and he's scored six times in the Champions League - as well as five assists. The Croatian lifted the trophy in 2015 after scoring one of the three goals against Juventus in the final.

Rakitic had experience in the Champions League before joining Barça. He played 12 matches for Schalke 04 and picked up three assists.

Another player to reach 50 matches in the Champions League - but not all with Barça - was Luis Suarez. The striker has played 45 times for the Catalan giants but 5 with Ajax.

Suarez played a key part in Barça's winning goal at Old Trafford too. His record in the competition stands at 34 wins, 8 draws and 8 defeats. He's scored 20 goals and provided 17 assists.
