Rayo Majadahonda vs Castilla on the verge of being called off

The Segunda B clash between Rayo Majadahonda and Real Madrid Castilla will not be going ahead due to a number of players having tested positive for COVID-19. Three players for Castilla have been confirmed to have the virus, and another player's results have come back uncertain.

Castilla informed both the Spanish Football Federation and Rayo Majadahonda on Saturday morning, and they have requested suspending the match. It will be up to the Federation to officially announce the postponement of the match once the information has been received.

The match was scheduled to be played at Cerro del Espino on Sunday, November 1, at 12:00 CET, and it was set to be the third game of the season for both clubs.

Since the start of the pandemic, Los Blancos have increased the security measures against coronavirus at the club's Valdebebas training complex and have assured that they will continue to do so, although that does not ensure the club will be exempt from any future risk.

Real Madrid have also assured that they will be testing all members of the squad, as well as the Castilla staff again, to ensure there aren't any more positives than those already identified.

Rayo Majadahonda have won both of their previous outings this season and sit pretty in the table with six points, while Real Madrid Castilla have won one match and lost the other.

Both met in a friendly on October 10, where Castilla came out as 2-0 winners.

"After the last COVID-19 tests carried out on our Real Madrid Castilla squad, three players have been tested positive result and one player has an uncertain result," Real Madrid's statement read.

"This situation implies, in compliance with the health protocol, a request to the Royal Spanish Football Federation for the postponement of the Rayo Majadahonda-Real Madrid Castilla match that was to be played tomorrow."
