Real Madrid and Brazil Legend Roberto Carlos recovering after emergency surgery

Reports claim that the 52-year-old, who earned 128 caps for Brazil between 1992 and 2006, went for a medical test on his leg, where he “has a small blood clot”.

The Sun report that a full-body MRI subsequently detected an issue with his heart and that he said to have promptly required urgent surgery in order to have a tube fitted.

According to AS, the procedure was effective, and the 52-year-old will remain under medical observation for another 48 hours.

Carlos stated that he is "fine now" in the aftermath of the procedure as he rests and recovers after a stressful few days under the knife.

Carlos came through the ranks with Uniao Sao Joao before moving to Europe with Inter Milan in 1995 where he won every trophy possible with the Italian side. The rest of his career left a mark on football history as he established himself as one of the best players of all time.

Carlos he is expected to make a full recovery despite the suddenness of the operation as fans wait for more updates.
