Real Madrid comfortable at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu again

This season has seen the return of Real Madrid's strength at home, with the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu becoming a fortress again.

Since the arrival of Julen Lopetegui, a single point is yet to be dropped as Getafe, Leganes, Roma and Espanyol have all succumbed to the power of Los Blancos.

The new coach made improving home form a clear objective from the off and there has been a marked improvement on last season's start, which saw two draws and a defeat from the first three league games - which all but ended the title fight by September.

In total, Real Madrid lost 17 points from a possible 57 on home turf in 2017/18 with 12 wins, three draws and four defeats, the worst record since 2006/07.

In the Copa del Rey the form wasn't much better, knocked out after two draws and a defeat, with them all coming against minnows.

A draw with Segunda Division B team Fuenlabrada, a second draw with Segunda Division side Numancia, both ending 2-2, and a 1-2 defeat to Leganes having won the first leg 1-0, knocked Real out on away goals.

The poor home form also applied in Europe, with away form getting them to Kiev.

There was a draw with Tottenham in the group stages, then Los Blancos hung on by their fingernails to avoid a comeback from Juventus who won on the night, whilst in the semi-finals Bayern Munich also managed a 2-2 draw.

For now, this season has been an entirely different story, with four games leading to four victories for the home side.
