Real Madrid has released an official statement regarding UEFA's communication concerning the "Negreira case." The club confirms that UEFA has received the complaint it filed and will continue investigating payments made by Barcelona to Javier Negreira, the former vice-president of UEFA's Referees Committee, over the past two decades.
Real Madrid's complaint includes extensive documentation and evidence of facts that the club believes directly threaten the integrity of competitions and undermine confidence in the refereeing system.
Real Madrid insists that with this evidence now in UEFA's possession, the investigation must proceed swiftly to completion, and the relevant authorities must impose sanctions proportionate to the severity of the established facts.
Real Madrid will continue to cooperate fully with UEFA and pursue all available avenues to establish these facts, which it considers fundamentally incompatible with the integrity, transparency, and fair play that should define European football.
