Real Madrid considers signing new striker after selling Gonzalo Garcia

Real Madrid has reached an agreement with Fulham for the transfer of forward Gonzalo Garcia to the Premier League club, and ESPN has learned that the two sides are also close to completing another deal, which will see midfielder Cesar Palacios join in the same manner.

Garcia, 22, made his Spain national team debut this year and is one of La Liga's most anticipated young forwards. He impressed in Real Madrid's Club World Cup performance last season, while 21-year-old midfielder Palacios is a Spain youth international.

Both players have been highly praised by Fulham manager Álvaro Arbeloa. Arbeloa took over at Fulham this summer, having previously served as a first-team assistant coach at the Bernabéu for a period.

Sources say Fulham will pay €40 million (£34 million/$46 million) for Garcia, and Real Madrid is currently considering whether to sign another forward to replace him.

Garcia scored 6 goals in 952 minutes in La Liga last season. His opportunities in the team were limited due to Mbappé's excellent form, and he also scored 4 goals in the 2025 Club World Cup.

Arbeloa also coached Garcia and Palacios when he was in charge of Real Madrid's youth team, Real Madrid Castilla.
