Real Madrid defender Alvaro Carreras insisted an incident with a team-mate in training has been resolved and had nothing to do with his recent lack of minutes.

Carreras has been an unused substitute in both of Madrid's last two games, with Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia both preferred at left-back by head coach Alvaro Arbeloa.

The 23-year-old, who came through the Manchester United academy, joined Los Blancos from Benfica for a reported €50m last summer.

Carreras has made 38 appearances this season (not including Club World Cup), directly contributing to four goals (two goals, two assists).

The left-back has recorded the second-most interceptions of any Madrid player this season (48) while winning 55.8% of his duels.

Reports suggested Carreras had been dropped by Arbeloa due to attitude problems, with the youngster being involved in an argument with an unnamed team-mate.

Carreras, however, denied those reports and claimed his relationship with the whole Madrid squad is now good.

"In recent days, certain insinuations and comments have been made about me which do not reflect reality," Carreras said on an Instagram story on Tuesday.

"My commitment to this club and the coaches I've had has been complete since day one, and it will continue to be. Since I came back [to Real Madrid] I've always worked with maximum professionalism respect and dedication. I fought hard to fulfil my dream of returning home.

"Regarding the incident with a teammate, it was an isolated, unimportant issue, which has since been resolved. My relationship with the whole team is very good."

Madrid are back in action on Sunday against rivals Barcelona. Arbeloa's side must win to stay alive in the title race.
