Real Madrid eye an evolution rather than a revolution

As an underwhelming season comes to an end for Real Madrid, they have analysed their issues from this season and concluded that it is necessary to help the players recover their form, rather than offload them.

The defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu against Girona in February put an end to what could have been Madrid's comeback in LaLiga Santander, which was followed by their elimination from the Copa del Rey and Champions League, and Los Blancos have attributed their disappointing campaign to a lack of hunger and ambition.

Zinedine Zidane is eager to find solutions for the 2019/20 campaign as he takes into account this season's mistakes and struggles, including the poor form of vital players such as Isco, Marcelo and Gareth Bale.

At Madrid, they believe that they can turn the situation around and return to being competitive, as their history dictates.

To achieve that, however, they will need to replicate the great performances from previous seasons, and Zidane's comeback signals the beginning of a new era.

Santiago Solari could have stayed until the end of the season, but the board eyed Zidane as someone who could put a stop to the team's downfall.

Although the attitude of several players has disappointed the directors of the club, they are confident that Zidane can make the most of the current squad.

The 46-year-old will have the last word, but his priority will be to assist players such as Bale, Isco and Marcelo in reaching their maximum level.

Madrid are not eager to sweep out a dozen players and replace them with new signings, but rather to maintain the same core and help them retransform into the players that won three consecutive Champions League titles.
