Real Madrid gives Asencio a multi-million dollar contract

The Las Palmas center back has renewed his contract until 2029 and his salary has improved considerably.

The world of football offers few opportunities, and when they arise, you have to seize them. That's exactly what 22-year-old Raúl Asencio has done, taking advantage of long-term injuries to center backs like Alaba and Militao this season to carve out a place in Real Madrid 's first team despite being registered with the reserve team. His level of play has been such that he's even been compared to Sergio Ramos. 

The Real Madrid youth player has been one of the breakthroughs of the season, making the jump from two divisions (from the First RFEF to the First Division ) without much notice. He's a speedy center-back who is very good at cutting, has a hierarchy, and doesn't back down on any stage. Performances that have earned him a call-up to the Spanish national team and a renewal with Real Madrid. 

His contract expired in 2026 and he had a €50 million buyout clause , so extending his contract was crucial for the club. According to the newspaper 'Marca,' the renewal has already taken place. Asencio reportedly signed until 2029 and will earn €6.2 million next season , which could rise to €9 million. Despite speculation that the signing was being delayed due to pending legal issues, it now appears that this will not be the case. 

Although he started playing with the reserve team in 2024-25, he has already played 29 games with the first team and has become a fixture in Carlo Ancelotti's schemes, who has even placed him at right back in some difficult situations.
