Real Madrid were eliminated from the Copa del Rey at the quarter final stage by a valiant Athletic Club who earned a late 1-0 win on Thursday.
It was a tame display from Los Blancos, as they were outplayed and outfought by the Basques throughout the encounter.
COURTOIS
Made some solid saves, from Inigo Martinez and Dani Garcia to name just a couple. Wasn't overly worked but did his job well.
LUCAS VAZQUEZ
Stayed in the team despite Carvajal's return. More work in defence than in attack, with Athletic overloading the flanks.
MILITAO
A fascinating battle with Inaki Williams. Imprecise in his defensive duties and struggled with Athletic's pressing.
ALABA
Filled in at left back and looked good going forward, although those moments were few and far between. Nico Williams' pace caused problems but he dealt with the threat well.
NACHO
Like his central defensive partner, he was put under plenty of pressure by Inaki Williams and co. Fortunate not to have had a penalty given against him for handball from Raul Garcia's header.
CASEMIRO
Returning after the international break, Casemiro felt the force of the Athletic press. Missed Real Madrid's best chance of the night.
KROOS
Frustrated by the lack of possession coming his way. Little joy for the German as Athletic dominated the middle of the park. Subbed off on 75 minutes.
MODRIC
One of those rare matches where even the calm and composed Modric looked slightly rattled as Athletic suffocated the midfield
RODRYGO
Didn't do much damage down that right flank. The Brazilian had a chance to impress in Benzema's absence but he didn't take it.
VINICIUS
A quiet game from the usually electric winger. Kept under good check by Athletic, so much so that he was surprisingly subbed off after just 60 minutes.
ASENSIO
Non-existent in the first half but came to life in the second. A sublime pass for Casemiro which the Brazilian should've scored from.
ISCO
A surprise introduction for Vinicius on 60 minutes.
CAMAVINGA
Entered the game for Kroos on 75 minutes but couldn't do much.
