Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni was not ruled out of the Champions League final until a week before the match, but the French midfielder is reportedly in doubt for the start of France’s Euro 2024 campaign. Tchouameni picked up a foot injury against Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-final, and has not played since the the 8th of May.
As per Diario AS, Tchouameni is fighting a battle to be back for the 17th of June, when France will take on Austria in their opening group game, which is the earliest date he could return. The 24-year-old will miss both of their preparation friendlies against Luxembourg and Canada.
Los Blancos will no doubt be concerned, as injuries have frequently halted Tchouameni just after displaying his best form for Real Madrid. If he goes into the tournament a little less than 100%, the chances of him aggravating the injury are much higher, and without Toni Kroos next season, Tchouameni is set for a key role in midfield, albeit like France, Eduardo Camavinga is an excellent alternative.
