Manchester City’s in-form striker Erling Haaland has been linked with a host of clubs during his time at the Etihad Stadium but Real Madrid have been told they were right not to move for him
Real Madrid have been praised for choosing NOT to sign Manchester City hotshot Erling Haaland. The Norwegian frontman was strongly linked with a move to Spain ahead of agreeing a switch to the Etihad.
Those rumours have not slowed down since, while Haaland’s goalscoring form has been as scintillating as ever. Real Madrid remain among his admirers amid previous talk of a release clause - Haaland having since penned a new deal - while their Spanish rivals Barcelona are also interested.
Former Real star Wesley Sneijder has since praised the La Liga side for not making a move for Haaland and instead opting to wait to seal Kylain Mbappe’s signature on a free transfer. Speaking to AdventureGamers.com, the Dutchman said: “I think Real Madrid did a great job by not signing Haaland.
“There was a moment where they still believed in putting Mbappe down the left with Haaland as the striker but I think the way now is much better because for me Mbappe has become a real striker.
“The way he takes up positions as a striker, it's very unique, and I believe he's much better now as a striker than from the left side so it doesn't make sense to sign Haaland anymore. That’s good news for Man City!”
Haaland is in the middle of another sensational season for City. His goal against former club Borussia Dortmund saw him extend his record to 18 goals in just 14 appearances in all competitions.
Amid reported interest from Barcelona earlier this season, City boss Guardiola claimed that the striker would be keen to serve his entire new deal, but was not surprised that clubs around Europe wanted to recruit the forward.

"I think Erling isn’t stupid enough to sign something he doesn’t want to accomplish, that is for sure," he said. "But it's football, who knows what is going to happen. Nobody knows. Honestly, I don’t know what is going to happen. I know he has a long contract here, and I think he’s doing really well and scoring a lot of goals."
Guardiola added: "Can you tell me one club that wouldn’t dream of Erling Haaland? I understand Barcelona dream of Erling, and all the clubs in the world.
“If Erling would not be with us it would be a dream for Man City have Erling. I had the feeling the team helps him a lot and gives him a lot of actions where he is able to score a goal."

Sneijder should have praised Mbappe without bringing Haaland into the picture. There's no report that proves Haaland ever wanted Madrid so saying "Madrid were RIGHT to not sign Erling Haaland" is totally uncalled for. You don't know if he would have rejected Madrid, if they tried to sign him. It's good for Madrid that Mbappe is flourishing as a 9 but that doesn't affect Haaland in anyway because he's been in perfect form in City.

Great glad that we lock him down with 10 year contract . let's not assume HAALAND would accepted them right away and would be cheap , Every player understands that if Madrid are after u, you need to demand ridiculous wages + performance base bonuses to milk the club to take advantage of their brand .
