Real Madrid train ahead of the visit of Girona aiming for a fifth La Liga win

Real Madrid were put through their paces on Saturday morning as they look to continue their stunning run of form this weekend.

Girona are the visitors to the Bernabeu on Sunday with Santiago Solari's side aiming for a fifth straight La Liga win.

After a dismal start to the season Real have hit form in recent weeks and now find themselves second in the table, six points behind Barcelona.

They went through an intense session with a focus on ball work, according to the club website.

After starting in the gym they worked on possession and pressing, with Marcos Llorente and Isco continuing their recovery from injury.

Real put themselves in the driving seat to seal a quarter-final spot in the Champions League with victory away at Ajax.

Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio found the back of the net in the second-half to take a 2-1 lead back to Madrid next month.

The game was overshadowed by Sergio Ramos' claim that he deliberately got himself booked in order to serve a one-match suspension for the second leg.

He has since backtracked, and said on Friday: 'I'm very surprised about all this. 'I was referring to forcing the foul, a foul that was inevitable. Not to forcing the booking.'
