Real Madrid's injury crisis blows up: 40 physical problems shared by 20 players

Real Madrid have been hit hard by an injury crisis this season. Dani Carvajal's latest injury takes their total to 40 for the season, which have been shared across 20 players.

Those problems have only worsened in recent weeks and even Zinedine Zidane has acknowledged their issues.

"Having so many injuries isn't bad luck," Zidane said. "We're worried."

One day after those comments from the coach, Carvajal fell injured for the fourth time this season within 25 minutes of reappearing.

In 2020/21, only Andriy Lunin, Casemiro, Ferland Mendy and Vinicius have avoided a setback with their fitness out of the player's in Zidane's squad.

The problem worsens

Real Madrid are failing to see the light at the end of the tunnel and they're only growing increasingly concerned by the problem.

Los Blancos faced Huesca with nine players out, Getafe with eight out and Valencia with seven absentees.

That state of emergency will continue for the match against Real Valladolid, with Carvajal joining Sergio Ramos, Eden Hazard, Rodrygo, Fede Valverde, Eder Militao, Alvaro Odriozola and Marcelo on the injury report.

Nobody has suffered more injuries than Real Madrid this season. They've had 25 more than Atletico Madrid's 15, 15 more than Barcelona's 25 and 22 more than Sevilla's 18.
