Carlo Ancelotti's return to Real Madrid means a reconnection between Real Madrid and the side that won La Decima and, in doing so, kickstarted the Zinedine Zidane era at the club, wherein Los Blancos won three consecutive Champions League trophies.
A number of players already at the club might now be given another opportunity to rediscover their best form, but his arrival could also become an obstacle for the arrival of players such as Kylian Mbappe.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward has been linked to Real Madrid for quite a while now, but his future is still very much a mystery, as are the futures of a number of players at the club who were part of that 2014/15 squad, which was the last under Carletto's command.
A number of situations could be shaped by his return.
Doubts in defence
Ancelotti will likely have Dani Carvajal back after a year plagued by injuries. He joined Ancelotti's side in 2013/14 and made an instant impact, taking over and becoming the first-choice option at right-back.
Even the Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane partnership could yet continue. Both have had their futures up in the air now, and Ramos had looked all but confirmed to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of June.
Clarity in midfield
There is no doubt about what's going to happen in midfield.
Casemiro is untouchable now, despite not having been a part of Ancelotti's group last time, while Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are as key now as they were then.
Martin Odegaard is expected to return this summer and should be at Ancelotti's disposal for 2021/22, with Fede Valverde also set to play a key role. Even Isco might yet go back on his decision to leave.
And up top... Karim Benzema
The forward line is the area that has changed the most since Ancelotti's last spell at the club. Only Benzema remains, with some big names having left.
Now, the Italian finds Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes supporting the No.9. He will also have a decision to make on Gareth Bale.

Isco, Mariano, Bale, Ceballos, Hazard should still be sold. If not it would be another season of struggles. With the return of puntis as fitness coach, there should be far less muscle injury like in the last season.

No matter whoever is the coach he should not play Marcelo and Isco for gods sake. They are on the verge of being finished. Rather give chance to youngsters like Miguel and Blanco

We don't need to buy players...he can make things work with our current squad
dont fool yourself. Casemiro needs help in midfield. kroos and Modric are good individually but together, they are getting slower every year. Valverde is a 💎 though

why
Anceloti highly admires kimmich whereas Ancheloti is like a father figure for him..Im afraid we might loose our future captain if he desperately tried to get him...
