According to AS, Real Sociedad has fully launched its summer squad restructuring. Football director Bretos will work with coach Matarazzo to clear out surplus players and recruit new ones, prioritizing strengthening the center-back and attacking lines. Takefusa Kubo's future remains uncertain, while Asensio and Füllkrug are on the initial list of potential signings.
The report states that Real Sociedad is scheduled to convene for pre-season training in early July, but not all players will be available initially. Several Real Sociedad B youth players will be called up to start pre-season training. The club hopes to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past two summers – squad building that was too drawn out, although the final progress still depends on market conditions.
Clearance and Loan-outs: Many Key Players Included
The sports management holds a lengthy list of players to be cleared, involving several key players and complex contracts: Mendez, Zakharyan, and Jon Karrikaburu are all under contract; the futures of Remiro and Muñoz are also in doubt, while Takefusa Kubo's future remains consistently uncertain.
Recruitment Direction: Strengthening Center-back and Attack is the Absolute Priority
After a season of mixed results in recruitment, the club urgently needs more precise operations. The signings of Soler and Guedes have been successful, while Caleta-Car, despite numerous appearances, has shown extremely low defensive quality. Real Sociedad has confirmed parting ways with the Croatian center-back and Brazilian winger Wesley Teixeira (who completely disappeared after a winter loan spell). The biggest question mark is Yanhel Herrera, a high-priced signing who has been sidelined almost the entire season due to injury.
The first batch of summer transfer targets has emerged: Diogo Leite, Nino, Asensio, Füllkrug... The absolute priority is to strengthen the center-back and attacking lines.
At the same time, the club is also evaluating full-back candidates to rotate on both flanks, and closely monitoring the goalkeeper market in case Remiro leaves. The full-back position also requires considering the situations of Muñoz (only one year left on his contract) and Ruperes – the latter was supposed to be the second right-back but missed the entire year due to a serious pre-season injury, only getting sporadic time in the final matchday. It is worth noting that Odriozola will start the new season as an injured player.
