L’Équipe are reporting that Stade Rennais have rejected an offer of €20 million from VfB Stuttgart for Arnaud Kalimuendo (22). It is largely expected that Kalimuendo will leave in the current window after being tracked for a while by a number of clubs across Europe.
L’Équipe explains that Kalimuendo does not see Stuttgart as being his priority and is far more interested in alternative offers, where discussions are ongoing.
In January, Rennes were approached by Eintracht Frankfurt who were thought to have offered a similar amount to Stuttgart (reportedly a little over €20 million), while in more recent months AS Monaco were said to be looking at Kalimuendo after their attempt to buy Georges Mikautadze (23) fell through.
Kalimuendo is currently representing France at the Paris Olympics where the nation are on course to compete in their first final since 1984 (where they defeated Brazil 2-0 to claim the gold medal).
