Former FC Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard has turned down the opportunity to take over as Holland manager according to 'De Telegraaf'.

Rijkaard, who managed the Netherlands between 1998 and 2000, was asked to replace Ronald Koeman.

However, Rijkaard said 'no' as he doesn't have any desire to manage at the highest level again.

In 2013, Rijkaard was sacked by Saudi Arabia after a run with Galatasaray. Yet the most memorable moment of the Dutchman's managerial career was with Barça (2003-2008) when he won LaLiga and the Champions League.

The Dutch FA felt Rijkaard was the ideal replacement due to his experience and the respect the players have for the national hero. Now they will be forced to look at alternatives.
