Jamie Carragher and Rio Ferdinand have become embroiled in a spat on Twitter after the former's furious debate with Roy Keane on Sky Sports.
Carragher was in the broadcaster's studio for Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday when he began a heated row with the former United and Republic of Ireland captain Keane over Cristiano Ronaldo's omission from Michael Carrick's starting line-up.
While Keane argued that the decision to drop the Portuguese star to the bench was wrong, the former Liverpool defender insisted that his current standing in the game meant a starting berth was not a guarantee.
And picking up on the argument the day after, Ferdinand stepped in looking to diminish the opinion of his former England team-mate.
'Carragher stop arguing about league titles with a man that’s won multiple league titles!' he tweeted, along with a video of himself on his Vibe with Five podcast, discussing his opinion of the Sky Sports man.
In the short clip, Ferdinand says: 'Carragher shouldn’t really be talking about winning leagues. He’s never done it.
'He don’t know what it means. He don’t know how to do it.
'He’s never navigated a team through it to that point to win a league. So I find it very difficult when he speaks with such conviction about winning leagues.
'You should stick to cup competitions. The moment he talks about leagues, I mute it.'
Ferdinand, who is a regular pundit for BT Sport, was also responding to a tweet from Carragher during the week in the wake of United's victory over Villarreal in the Champions League.
Making light of Ferdinand's infamous declaration that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be given the United job full-time in the aftermath of their famous Champions League success in Paris in 2019, Carragher joklingly made the same suggestion about Michael Carrick after the caretaker oversaw victory against Villarreal midweek.
The 43-year-old tweeted: 'Man Utd might not thanks me, but get the contract out put it on the table & let him sign it, let him right whatever number he wants, let him sign the contract. Carrick’s at the wheel man!'
Carragher responded to Ferdinand's latest message by questioning his loyalty towards United, suggesting that the centre back had sought a move away from Old Trafford during his career.
'Not talking titles but the deal for Ronaldo to Man Utd which you arranged,' stated Carragher. in a nod to Ferdinand's revelation that he had spoken to Ronaldo in a bid to persuade not to join Manchester City this summer.
'No PL [Premier League] for me but Sky like my opinions! No titles in your career without [Sir Alex Ferguson] and when you stopped winning [the Premier League] at [Manchester United] you tried to move to Chelsea so please stop giving it the big MU fan one!'
Ferdinand won the title six times with Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson, and lifted the Champions League trophy in 2008.

They both made their points but certainly I do not go with Carragher’s idea. If we’re talking about stats of which football is all about CR7 is better than any other Man Utd Forward this season. So why should the most in form player not be a regular starter if the goal is to win titles

Jaimie made more sense than roy keane yesterday . You don't sign CR7 to win FA cup , utd had no vision just vibes. Glazers make decisions based on the share price which went up when they signed CR7 .That is the only point , they want to earn more money from shirt sales , stocks and CR7 does that for them along with scoring goals. Glazers know fck all about football.

Yo Ferdinand really went too low on this one...If Carragher isnt credible enough to talk about League titles than I dont think that this Pundits should talk about Ballon dors Or who the best player is Because non of them were best at there time....If giving opinions about someone u like hurts ur feeling than U should start Watching princess movies....Its that simple I hate English pundits
