Robert Moreno: It's sad to think there are people who don't want me to do well

Robert Moreno declared himself disappointed by those who doubt his work and prompted his critics to stick up for him and the Spanish national team.

La Roja didn't convince with their performances against Sweden and Norway, but they nonetheless managed to secure qualification to the 2020 European Championship.

"People who may have doubts about me, have to end up backing [me]," Moreno said in the post-match press conference.

"As much as they like me or not, I am the coach and it is what it is.

"It is sad to think that there are people who don't want me to do well.

"It's nice to be able to add good moments and turn around those critics.

"I would like people to join the team when the Euros arrive in Bilbao and help us in the bad times."

Moreno went on to express his joy at qualifying and dedicated it to former Spain coach Luis Enrique.

"I am happy with this group and that I have so many players who are so good that they allow me to make many changes," he continued.

"It is an obligation to qualify and that is why we don't value it.

"I want to remember both Luis Enrique and his family and dedicate it to them, as well as [Luis] Rubiales and [Jose Francisco] Molina [as] they were brave [to appoint me] and we haven't disappointed them."

David de Gea made some crucial saves against Sweden before being replaced by Kepa Arrizabalaga due to an injury, and Moreno hailed the Manchester United goalkeeper's qualities.

"He made a save in the first half [and] other players have done very well," he noted.

"The goalkeeper is here to make saves and he deserves the save he has made.

"I am proud to have three goalkeepers [De Gea, Kepa and Pau Lopez] of this level."
