Recently, Robertson was interviewed by Sky Sports, where he discussed his and Alexander-Arnold's development paths, as well as Scotland's World Cup journey.
Robertson stated: "If you look into each of our growth stories, you'll find that everyone's experiences are surprisingly similar. Before we got everything we have now, everyone had to fight with all their might. And now, as a professional player, no matter what situation you are in, you must fight for every ball and never give up.
"When Trent was still playing for Liverpool, I always told him that there is never a shortcut to becoming a professional player. I chose this path (lower-level teams), while Trent took another path (elite youth academy). But the difficulty of these two paths is actually on par – because to stand out in a youth academy, you must consistently prove to every coach that you are capable enough, good enough, and competent, and then you still have to find a way to attract the attention of the first-team coach, which is by no means easy.
"Of course, if you choose to start from the bottom leagues and then try to climb up, it is also a thorny path. However, all the players in this Scotland team now have similar struggle trajectories, and I think this is precisely why our entire team is so closely connected and cohesive, forming such an excellent team. For us, being able to represent Scotland together in the World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, all of us brothers should feel immensely proud."
