Manchester City have rejected a new £55m bid from Barcelona for Rodri.
Last week Barcelona had an initial offer in the region of £40m knocked back. On Wednesday, Sky Sports News reported that Barca were expected to raise their offer to between £50m and £60m, but their new offer is still not enough for City.
Barcelona remain determined to sign Rodri and are considering their next move.
City are seeking upwards of £60m for the 30-year-old midfielder, who has entered the final year of his deal. Talks remain ongoing.
Sky Sports News has reported this summer that City do not want to sell Spain's World Cup-winning captain and instead want to agree a new contract with him. However, if Rodri asks to leave, then they would not stand in his way.
Man City in talks with Saudi side over Reijnders sale
Man City are talking to Saudi Arabian club Al Qadsiah about selling Tijjani Reijnders to them.
Advanced and positive talks are ongoing for a package in the region of £51.3m (€60m).
Reijnders is viewed as a world-class and peak-age player by Qadsiah, who are keen to strengthen in midfield ahead of their first Asian Champions League campaign.
Al Qadsiah are also about to move into their new Aramco Stadium.
It means City could lose two central midfielders but they also want to sign potentially two, with interest in Enzo Fernandez and Ayyoub Bouaddi.
Chelsea have given City a deadline of Friday 5pm to make a £120m bid for Enzo while talks remain ongoing with Lille for Bouaddi.

No club can ever pay €80m or plus for rodri at 30yrs and with that injury record and if there’s let one come calling, i guarantee every club by now is aware of the ongoing situation with the deal between barca and city, why not a club like man u that are in need of experience defensive midfielder should send their offer, even madrid that is considered to be the most powerful destination for world class players have never pay an more than €60m for 30yr old player. If rodri is not willing to accept new contract and is desperate to move to his home land at this stage of his carrier, then city are not smart at all cuz by January they will definitely lose him for free because of their greediness. Real Madrid is going to sign Rodri at the last hour when Barcelona is exhausted. They don’t really have money to compete with Madrid. Madrid played the withdrawal tactics to see if they have the money. Rodri and Madrid already had an agreement and talks with City before Barca came rushing. Barca doesn't want to over pay again as they did for Gordon, which is understandable. Man City holding out for around £70mil is laughable. Player is good, no doubt, but at 30yrs old plus 1yr left on the running contract, doubt anyone will pay that kind of money.
