Barcelona have not yet made a decision on the continuity of 24-year-old forward – Romano

After a bright start to life as a Barcelona player, Joao Felix has come under scrutiny of late as he goes through an indifferent run of form.

The 24-year-old attacker has racked up a tally of six goals and three assists from 20 matches across all competitions but has lacked consistency in his game.

Earlier this week, against Almeria, Joao Felix was subpar and was even hooked off at half-time by Xavi Hernandez, who is starting to display his ruthless side.

Naturally, there have been some reports coming out regarding Felix and his standing at Barcelona following the Almeria game, with it being claimed that Barcelona are far from convinced by the Portuguese international.

No decision made over permanent transfer

After his initial explosion, reports emerged claiming that Barcelona had already decided to sign Joao Felix permanently from Atletico Madrid at the end of the season.

President Joan Laporta also recently hinted that the club intend to prolong the stints of both Joao Felix and Joao Cancelo beyond this season.

And while the forward continues to enjoy the full backing of Laporta, other key figures are starting to have doubts about a permanent move after some of his recent performances.

But, according to a fresh update from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona have not made a decision on the continuity of Joao Felix beyond the season as of yet.

The Blaugrana have not communicated to Atletico Madrid or the player’s agent that they want or do not want to sign him permanently in the summer and do not intend to do so right now.

A decision will not be made at this point in the season, but towards the back end of the campaign.

For now, Barcelona hope to see Joao Felix emerge as an important player for the second half of the season.
