Roncero: Midfields of RM are gym boys who only care about muscle, not football

Tomás Roncero criticized yesterday on 'Carrusel Deportivo' the midfield of Real Madrid, leaving a statement that will raise eyebrows within the Madridista community: "The best midfield has been replaced by boys who come out of the gym," he said, making it clear that Camavinga, Tchouameni, Valverde and company are more concerned about their muscles than about playing football.

"It's that it's true... 'Camavinga, Tchouameni, Valverde! They say 'come on, let's all get stuck in, how strong we are, how tough we are!'", he accuses. And he adds: "Yes, but we'll have to take a bit more care of the ball, of making 30-metre passes, and long balls, and overhead kicks, and a shot to the side...! I don't know, I'm just saying! I'm saying it to do something different from just being tough!"

Roncero softened his speech a bit: "Technically they are good, yes. Tchouameni has good feet, Camavinga has a spectacular left foot a priori, Valverde when he was in his 'prime' is an extraordinary player and Bellingham... Look, I can say it in English because he will understand me, 'he's missing'. He dazzled the world and almost won the Ballon d'Or justly and now he doesn't even know in which position he plays".

And he summarized: "It's frustrating to see four guys with such a powerful athletic and technical profile and then it doesn't translate into even the slightest bit of football. And Güler, who in theory has the most talent, lately has taken to disappearing like a sugar cube. Another one off the map. It really makes me angry."
